History was made on Wednesday April 27th when Patron of the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC), His Excellency Anthony Thomas Aquinas Carmona ORTT, SC, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, visited the TTOC’s Olympic House on the occasion of 100 days to the start of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games on August 5th.

According to TTOC Secretary General, Mrs. Annette Knott, “The first-time visit to the TTOC Olympic House by President Carmona made the 100 days to Rio commemoration a very special occasion.”

His Excellency cordially shared words of encouragement with the TTOC staff and took the opportunity to sign the commemorative “10Golds24” supporters’ board, adding the words: “With vision, all things are possible – 100 days to go!”

"We were all tremendously happy and honoured to host His Excellency,” Mrs. Knott further stated, “His knowledge, support, keen interest and words of encouragement for the work of the Olympic Movement and the dedicated efforts of Team TTO athletes were evident.”

Earlier in the day, the TTOC held a small press gathering to mark the 100-day countdown to Rio, where a cheque for $250,000 was handed over to the TTOC on behalf of the Guardian Group. TTOC President, Mr. Brian Lewis, also disclosed that plans are in the works to launch an initiative that will help raise funds for the TTOC on an ongoing basis. Also in attendance were Olympic competitors, Andrew Lewis (Sailing) and Nigel Paul (Boxing).
